The Canadian Mezzo Soprano, Kristin Hoff, is making her mark in the Canadian and Americian classical music scene. Very comfortable and committed on the opera stage, her credits include Ottavia (l’Incoronazione di Poppea), Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Anna Maurrant (Street Scene), Mezzo-Soprano (Vivier's Kopernikus), Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro) and Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Kristin was chosen as one of the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques du Canada of 2009 and is the recipient of grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres de Québec.
A dedicated performer of both art song and contemporary music, Ms. Hoff participated in the 2007 Ravinia Steans' Institute and the 2008 Tanglewood Music Center where she concentrated on this repertoire. At Tanglewood, she performed Schubert’s Erlkönig and Brahms’ Neue Liebesliederwalzer with the Mark Morris Dance Company and Mrs. Anderssen in Sondheim's A Little Night Music with the Boston Pops.
As part of the Tanglewood's Contemporary Music Festival of 2008, which celebrated Elliot Carter’s 100th birthday, she sang the composer's Syringa under the baton of Stefan Asbury. In January 2010, she performed Syringa again, making her Carnegie Hall debut with Maestro James Levine and the Met Chamber Ensemble. She will be returning to Tanglewood this summer to sing the role of Dryade in Ariadne auf Naxos conducted by James Levine.
