A dedicated performer of both art song and contemporary music, Mezzo-Soprano Kristin Hoff concentrated on this repertoire at the Ravinia Steans’ Institute and the Tanglewood Music Center. Her success in contemporary music has had her performing the Mezzo-Soprano role in Vivier’s Kopernikus, Elliot Carter’s Syringa with Stefan Asbury and an upcoming project with the Montreal Contemporary Opera Company Chants Libres with the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne.

Art song projects have included Schubert’s Erlkönig and the Brahms Neue Liebesliederwalzer with the Mark Morris Dance Company. Kristin was selected for both the 2009 and 2010 Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques du Canada program and has received grants from both the Quebec and Canada Art Councils.

Kristin recently sang with the Orchestre Symphoniques des Jeunes de Montréal conducted by Louis Lavigueur and as the alto soloist in Handel’s Messiah with Chorus Niagara. In Spring 2012, she will tour Ontario and Québec with the Jeunesses Musicales du Canada as Carmen.

Kristin’s roles include Ottavia, Prince Orlofsky, Anna Maurrant, Marcellina, Donna Elvira, Mrs. Anderssen and Carmen. She returned to Tanglewood in 2010, where she performed the role of Dryade in Ariadne auf Naxos, conducted by Christoph von Dohnanyì. Kristin recently performed Carter’s Syringa a second time, making her Carnegie Hall debut with the Met Chamber Ensemble and Maestro James Levine.
